When I was in journalism school, there was no question of where I wanted my editorial career to go—the magazine business was my first and only choice. But the profession I entered 17 years ago was vastly different from what it is today. Technology has literally changed the way we do everything. And this month marks another big technological leap for the EMS World Magazine editorial staff with the launch of the EMS World iPad application.

Since the explosion of the Internet, we have been able to supplement our print content by posting additional material for articles—sidebars, videos, podcasts and the like—online. But we recognize that sometimes it isn’t convenient for a reader to turn to the Web and input a URL to access content. Instead, you can now download our free iPad app and experience EMS World Magazine in an entirely new way!

In addition to select articles from this issue, the first edition will include a video interview with the authors of our continuing education articles, a walkthrough of the new sun-powered trucks that are saving Richmond Ambulance Authority big bucks, and multimedia materials from the EMS Safety Foundation on the latest issues in emergency vehicle safety.
