Crafting a Conference
While putting this month’s issue to bed, we are also finalizing the educational program for the 2013 EMS World Expo. Many of the folks whose work you read in EMS World Magazine will be teaching at this year’s show, which is scheduled for September 8–12 in Las Vegas, NV.
In this month’s cover report, Associate Editor Jason Busch interviews Henry Cortacans, state planner for the New Jersey EMS Task Force, about the response to Hurricane Sandy. Henry will present on this same topic at the Expo, where he will provide an overview of the EMS response to New Jersey’s largest (and the second-costliness in American history) disaster.
Case Review columnist Jim Augustine, who this month writes about the flu epidemic, will present a roundup of case reviews for BLS providers and an ALS class on burn and blast injuries.
We have been discussing the critical issues impacting the future of prehospital care in our EMS 2020 column and will host a roundtable debate at the conference where EMS leaders and experts will convene to discuss how we can best guide EMS as a healthcare profession over the next seven years.
EMSWorld.com columnist Matt Zavadsky will lead a day-long summit at EMS World Expo focusing on the delivery of mobile healthcare and community paramedicine. The summit will bring together medical directors, EMS agency heads, state EMS directors and insurance company representatives to discuss how our profession can seize the opportunities that exist to expand and redefine our delivery of medical care.
Just as you can’t afford to miss EMS World Magazine each month, you definitely need to add the EMS World Expo to your calendar to experience the best education and networking opportunity available today. For more information, visit EMSWorldExpo.com.
