June 01--A 4-month-old Bayport boy in cardiac arrest was revived by emergency volunteers and a Suffolk police officer Tuesday night, officials said.

The infant was taken first to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue and then transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center, Suffolk police said.

The child, whose name was not released, was at the hospital in serious condition and not breathing on his own early Wednesday morning, police said.

The Community Ambulance Company and fire department volunteers arrived about 9:15 p.m. on Stephen Road, where Suffolk police Officer Vanessa Logan was already performing CPR on the child, officials said.

Roadways were closed down to help the ambulance take the infant to the hospital, while emergency support was continued, officials said.

The cause of the infant's condition was not immediately available.
