Iowa Man`s Arm Amputated After Train Accident

BOONE, Iowa --

A railroad worker had his arm amputated following a train accident in Boone on Monday.

Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said the accident happened at 4:30 a.m. near the south end of the Union Pacific rail yard.

Davis said the employee was getting off a locomotive when he was struck by a passing train.

The employee was taken by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital with several serious injuries. One of his arms had to be amputated, Davis said.

Union Pacific is not releasing the employee's name.

The employee is still in a Des Moines hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
