The accident happened when the EMT driving the ambulance leaned over to switch the frequency on the communications radio so he could communicate with the dispatcher.

City of Detroit officials say they are answering the call to improve the EMS service by adding more ambulances after the city came under fire when six people were shot but no ambulances were available to respond.
