BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. --

Two men are in the hospital after their airboat crashed on the St. Johns River near the county line of Brevard and Volusia.

The crash occurred in Mims around 8:00 Saturday morning near Hatbill Park on the river.

Officials say the men were driving the boat on mostly dry land when they hit a dip in the ground that flipped the airboat, ejecting both of them.

A Brevard County Fire Rescue spokesperson told Eyewitness News paramedics had to be taken to the scene by boat and helicopter to treat the victims.

Both men were initially transported to Parrish Medical Center. Officials say one of the victims is now being flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center, after additional injuries were discovered in the emergency room.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is investigating the crash.
