Fla. Family Killed In Electrical Accident
PALM BAY, Fla. --
Palm Bay police say two parents and their 15-year-old son were killed in an electrical accident Monday night.
Authorities say the two adults and 15-year-old were installing an antenna at the home on Alaska Avenue, when the antenna fell on some power lines and electrocuted all three victims.
A fourth victim, a 17-year-old was on the roof holding a guide wire, but that person wasn't seriously hurt.
Investigators say the mother died instantly at the scene, and the father and teenage son died at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
When fire crews arrived, firefighters said they had to be careful because they weren't sure which power lines were live lines.
Neighbors say they came outside when the power went out, and they saw a transformer on fire.
Officials say the accident knocked out power to nearly 3,500 residents in the area.
Eyewitness News has learned the 15-year-old victim was a student at Southwest Middle School, and grief counselors will be availabe at the school tomorrow.
The victims names have not been released.
