Boston Girl Impaled by Branch

BOSTON --

A 7-year-old Boxford girl was impaled by a tree branch on Wednesday while playing in her back yard, officials said.

The girl was playing in a tree at her home on Washington Street when she fell out and landed on the branch, which gouged into her torso, according to police.

The girl was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment. She was alert and conscious following the accident, police said. Her condition is unknown.
