Kansas City, Kansas To Vote On Tax For Ambulance Service

MARK WIEBE
Kansas City, Kan., will hold a special election June 8 on a proposed sales tax to finance the city's new emergency medical service.

Wyandotte County's Unified Board of Commissioners voted to put the tax on the ballot after a 45-minute special meeting Thursday. During the meeting a handful of residents voiced reservations about the need for the tax and the election.

Those reservations came despite the board's promise to use some of the sales tax revenue to reduce the property tax rate by 4.5 percent if the tax is approved.
