Boston Ambulance Rolls Over On Car

Story by <a target=_new href=http://www.thebostonchannel.com/>thebostonchannel.com</a>

BOSTON --

Two people were sent to the hospital Thursday after a sport utility vehicle and an ambulance collided. The ambulance rolled over and came to rest on top of a parked car.

Lowell police said the ambulance was responding to a call when it collided with an SUV and rolled onto a parked Ford Mustang at the intersection of Walker and Grove streets at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

"We heard the sirens of the ambulance and then, all of the sudden, you heard a bang and another bang," witness Eugenia Caverretta said.

The EMT driving the ambulance and the driver of the SUV were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lowell police said. Two other EMTs were in the ambulance.

"The car is replaceable, but I will get a new car soon, hopefully. As long as everyone is all right," said the owner of the Mustang, Carl Marino.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
