Pennsylvania Man Accused of Punching Two EMTs
A Carlisle man was arrested after he punched two emergency medical technicians as they treated him in an ambulance, police said.
Richard A. Shultz, 32, was charged with two counts each of aggravated and simple assault and harassment in the incident at 3 p.m. Thursday, state police said. He was free on $1,000 bail.
Shultz said he didn't recall hitting the EMTs, Trooper Meghan Barbour said. Arrest papers filed with District Judge Susan Day said Chance Quirk and Nikki Sheaffer of West Shore Emergency Medical Services helped Shultz when he had a seizure.
When Quirk cut Shultz's shirt to administer medication, he punched her in the face, Barbour said. Sheaffer grabbed Shultz's arm to keep him from hitting Quirk again, but he punched Sheaffer, Barbour said.
Shultz said he was angry about his shirt being cut, Barbour said.
