Bio Cybernetics International`s MAT Tourniquet Nominated for INDEX Award

Press Release

(La Verne, CA -- Nov 21, 2006) --The Bio Cybernetics Cybertech MAT tourniquet has been nominated for the prestigious, international 2007 INDEX Award (Denmark) by the Industrial Design Society of America. In doing so the MAT is recognized by the IDSA as one of the world's five best product designs of the past two years.

The INDEX Awards have been reported as being analogous to the Nobel Prize for design, with the five award-winners sharing equal parts of the overall $640,500+prize money awards. INDEX's self-stated objective is to "inspire designers, business and societies alike, to unfold the human and commercial potential in Design to Improve Life, in order to solve the global challenges of mankind."

Whether it be from battlefield action, terrorists attacks, vehicular accidents or even natural disasters, severe limb damage is a primary cause of amputation and fatalities resulting from bleed-out.

By virtue of its proven, easy and fast life and limb saving attributes, the MAT was nominated for the Body category of the INDEX Award.

The Cybertech MAT has been tested by the military to be the best performing tourniquet available to military and civilian personnel.

All three 2005 military medical tourniquet tests, including the ONR/MARCORSYSCOM Evaluation of Self-Applied Tourniquets for Combat Applications conducted at NEDU, Panama City, verified the Cybertech MAT provided the fastest application, most successful occlusion, and easiest use of all tourniquets tested--including other models already deployed. Additionally, the MAT was selected as the most user-preferred tourniquet by military test personnel.

This superior evaluation has also been shared by Homeland Security, Federal Marshals, Border Patrol, ATF, and those who protect the highest governmental officials. The MAT has been selected by all of these organizations as standard equipment in their kits.

Likewise, the MAT is being selected by various EU country militaries as issued gear for their soldiers.

The Cybertech MAT is the only device that meets all of the DoD's required and desired features in self-applied tourniquets. And, MAT also provides unique, incrementally-controlled occlusion that enables both the life and the limb to be saved. The MAT is constructed of DoD-specified and approved materials and provides proven operation in adverse conditions.

The Cybertech MAT is currently available in the 1" wide MAT: NSN 6515-01-538-2207. MATs can be shipped immediately in small or large quantities.
