Multi-Car Crash in Washington Injures Seven
Nov. 05--A three-vehicle crash on Highway 99 sent seven people to local hospitals Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Highway 99 just south of Northeast 63rd Street.
The driver of a full-size white truck heading southbound on Highway 99 rear-ended a stopped car waiting to turn left, said Sgt. Tony Barnes with the Clark County Sheriff's Office. The truck continued moving, crossed into the northbound lane and crashed nearly head-on into a car traveling north on the highway, he said.
The two people in the northbound vehicle were transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with a trauma alert, meaning they have possibly serious injuries, Barnes said.
The driver of the pickup was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. He will be charged with vehicular assault as alcohol may be a factor in the crash, Barnes said.
The four other people involved in the crash, including two children, were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries, he said.
The names and ages of all people involved in the crash weren't immediately available.
Barnes said all drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
