Tulsa Firefighters Injured Battling School Blaze
Eight Tulsa firefighters were sent to area hospitals during a blaze at a school building Wednesday morning.
Crews responded to the former site of Barnard Elementary that now houses the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences 17th Street and Lewis Avenue around 5 a.m., according to The Tulsa World.
Department spokesman Stan May told the newspaper that there were structural concerns with the building and that crews were pulled out following several explosions from inside the building.
KRMG Radio has reported that several of the injured firefighters sustained third-degree burns to their hands and facial areas.
Around 60 firefighters initiated an exterior attack as fire investigators interviewed witnesses in the area.
EMSWorld will have more information when it becomes available.
