Two Teens Dead, Two Injured After Morning Traffic Crash
Nov. 14--Two teenagers who were on their way to Staunton River High School died and two more were injured this morning in a wreck in Bedford County.
Police have not yet identified the victims, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Two other teens, 18- and 19-year-old boys, were taken to the hospital, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with Virginia State Police. One was airlifted and the other taken by ambulance.
All four teens were on their way to school in a black Ford Mustang driven by the 17-year-old, Carpentieri said. Just after 8:30 a.m., the driver was attempting to turn east onto Virginia 24 from Masons Lane when the car was t-boned by a black Ford F-350 that was heading west on 24.
The driver of the pickup was a 49-year-old Bedford County man, police said. His condition is unclear.
Virginia 24 remains closed. Westbound traffic has been re-routed onto Virginia 616. Eastbound motorists are being diverted onto Virginia 653.
