Pa. Man Arrested for Setting Woman on Fire
A man accused of setting his daughter's mother on fire in front of her two days ago has been arrested.
A Pittsburgh Zone 1 police officer said that Clinton C. Cohen, 27, of Wilkinsburg was arrested around 4 p.m. today in Marshall-Shadeland.
According to the criminal complaint, Mr. Cohen got into an argument with Maria Redman, 22, of Springdale Borough around 6:45 a.m. Thursday in her home. Ms. Redman told police Mr. Cohen punched her before pouring a bottle of perfume on her and setting her on fire with a cigarette lighter.
Their 3-month-old daughter was in the room when Ms. Redman was set ablaze, but she was unharmed, police said. The baby is in the custody of Ms. Redman's parents.
Ms. Redman, who suffered second-degree burns over 30 percent of her body, was taken to West Penn Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Mr. Cohen faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, arson/endangering persons, causing or risking catastrophe, simple assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
