Trial Begins in Texas Ambulance Theft Case

Aug. 19--Trial is scheduled this week for a local man, charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing an ambulance.

Jury selection is set today in the 354th District Court for Chad Lamar Skinner, 41, of Greenville.

Skinner has pleaded not guilty to an indictment of theft of property of the value of between $100,000 and $200,000.

The indictment alleged Skinner stole an ambulance belonging to American Medical Response (AMR) on February 16, 2012. The indictment was issued sealed by the Hunt County grand jury in December, pending Skinner's arrest and arraignment on the charge. The Hunt County Sheriff's Office took Skinner into custody on January 18.

The charge is a second degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
