Injuries Reported After Hayride Tips Over in Michigan

Oct. 27--A number of people were injured, with at least two hospitalized, when a tractor-pulled hayride tipped over at Camp Dearborn in Milford late this afternoon, police said.

Milford police said there were multiple injuries, but none appeared to be life threatening.

Ambulances responded to the accident, which involved 18 people, according to Karen Gabrys, a spokeswoman for Huron Valley Ambulance. She said the call came in at 5:43 p.m.. Huron Valley Ambulance, she said, transported two patients to a nearby hospital and both were in stable condition.

Other ambulances transported patients as well, Gabrys said.

On a Facebook page for Camp Dearborn a message was apparently posted by the camp saying that an incident had occurred during a hayride.

"There were injuries to some participants," the message says. "Most were treated on site and have since left the campground. Additional participants were alert yet transported via ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Later scheduled hayrides proceeded without issue."

Camp Dearborn, located at 1700 General Motors Rd. in Milford, is owned and operated by the city of Dearborn. According to its website, the camp offers picnic sites, paddle boat rentals, a mini golf and hayrides.

According to the camp, the hayrides are tractor drawn and accommodate a minimum of 20 people and a maximum of 30.
