Local Schools, Agencies in Kan. Join in Teleconference Training on School Hostage Situations
Aug. 20--Local schools and first responders will join agencies from Sedgwick County and around the nation in video teleconference training Wednesday focused on school hostage situations.
The national teleconference will be held at 11 a.m. at the Sedgwick County Emergency Operations Center, 714 N. Main.
The training, hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Emergency Management Institute, will include Sedgwick County Emergency Management, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office, COMCARE and the Emergency Medical Service. Police officials from Wichita, Haysville, Mulvane, Clearwater and Park City will also take part in the training, along with the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.
Among the schools participating are Wichita State University, Wichita public and parochial schools, Derby, Maize, Haysville, Mulvane, Clearwater, the Independent School and Central Christian Academy.
