Manuella Libardi

Oct. 20--A tree limb speared a man's leg while he was brush hogging in Labelle at about 3:30 p.m. and he had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter given the seriousness of his injury.

Jefferson County deputies arrived at the scene in the 6000 block of Steinhagen Road where they found the man with the tree limb pierced through his leg, Deputy Rod Carroll reported.

The man said the brush hog propelled the tree limb causing the injury.

Deputies called the Labelle/Fannett Fire/EMS to help immobilize the tree limb and get the man out of the tractor, Carroll said.

The paramedics on scene called in the Southeast Texas Air Rescue to transport the injured man to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Carroll said the man appeared to be in stable condition at the time.
