Three Injured in Fort Worth House Fire
May 04--A woman was rescued and two men escaped a house fire early Monday as firefighters battled flames on the city's east side, fire officials said.
One of the men ran out the front door of the burning home while suffering second-degree burns to his hands and smoke inhalation. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
The other man suffered a traumatic ankle injury when he jumped from a balcony to escape the flames. He also suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the woman from the balcony. She was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Texas Health Harris.
The house fire was reported shortly after 12:30 a.m Monday in the 3300 block of Panola Avenue.
Responding firefighters were alerted to possible victims trapped in the two-story home. The fire was already burning heavily, they said.
Thirty-two firefighters battled the fire before bringing it under control shortly before 1 a.m.
Damage estimates were not available Monday morning and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Battalion Chief Richard Harrison said in a news release.
