Elisha Anderson

Nov. 17--An ambulance was hit by another vehicle on the Detroit's west side this morning, sending people in both the ambulance and other vehicle to the hospital, officials said.

The accident happened just after 11 a.m. at West McNichols and Schaefer, said Detroit police spokeswoman Officer Nicole Kirkwood. Once the ambulance was hit, it was pushed into an electrical pole and caught fire, she said.

Both of the EMS workers were taken to a hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, said Detroit mayoral spokesman John Roach. He said the driver and passenger of the other vehicle also were taken to the hospital, but their injuries aren't known at this point.
