Conn. EMS Personnel Help Deliver Baby
May 03--HARTFORD -- Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel were celebrating over the weekend after they helped bring a new life into this world.
The fire department received a call Sunday afternoon that a woman was going into labor at a Bedford Street residence, according to Fire Capt. Thomas LeConche.
When firefighters and EMS personnel arrived, they were told that the baby had crowned and was ready to be delivered, so they provided support and medical care that allowed a baby girl to be delivered within minutes, LeConche said.
"Our dedicated professional emergency responders are committed to providing exceptional services to the citizens and visitors of our great city," said Hartford Fire Chief Reginald Freeman. "The excellence that was demonstrated on this particular call is reflective of our experience and training which we are committed to ensuring that the City of Hartford receives nothing but the best from their Hartford firefighters and EMS professionals."
The mother's original due date was Tuesday, LeConche said.
