Online Triage Course Offered by Disaster Management Systems, Inc.

PRESS RELEASE

Disaster Management Systems, Inc., a supplier of disaster preparedness solutions, today announced the availability of a new e-learning course for S.T.A.R.T. triage. The 2-hour stop-and-resume course covers all aspects of S.T.A.R.T. triage including placing learners in a mass-casualty incident setting as a member of a triage unit where they test their triage and operational skills.

Unlike traditional triage lesson plans and PowerPoints that primarily focus only on the triage algorithm itself, this course explains the how and why’s of S.T.A.R.T. as well as triage unit tactics, operational area setup, scene safety and even post-operation rehabilitation. Over 20 content-rich videos and quizzes ensure those that graduate have a strong working knowledge of how to conduct triage operations.

“After decades of seeing triage being taught with a narrow focus, we identified the need to integrate the algorithm into an all-encompassing operational and tactical process,” said Dennis Ortiz, Vice-President, Disaster Management Systems, Inc. “Regardless of the student’s experience or background, after successfully completing this course they will have acquired the confidence and knowledge needed to perform triage effectively in an MCI setting.”

Course enrollment is $19.95 for the non-CE version (also available in Spanish) which is ideal for CERT teams, disaster relief organizations and businesses. Graduates are awarded a personalized certificate of completion. The 2-credit EMS CE course* is $39.95 and is available under collaboration with Safety Unlimited, a California-based accredited, instructional organization specializing in EMS online training. Bulk seat discounts are available for organizations and an Affiliate program is offered for educators that wish to enroll their own students. The courses are available at https://www.learntriage.triagetags.com.

*California approved CE Course. May not be accepted in all states.
