A Portsmouth Ambulance employee was killed over the weekend in a crash that occurred in Jackson County near milepost 12 on SR 93. According to the report from the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jennifer Cross, 43, of Jackson, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Holzer Medical Center after the vehicle she occupied was involved in a crash just before 7 p.m on Saturday.

While responding to an emergency call southbound on St. Rt. 93 with emergency lights and sirens activated, a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Steven Dunnavant, 22, of Oak Hill, was traveling northbound on St. Rt. 93 and traveled left of the center line and was struck by the Portsmouth Ambulance in the southbound lane.
According to the report Dunnavant's vehicle veered off the edge of the southbound lane and struck a fence before coming to a stop. Webb's vehicle came to rest in the roadway.
Cross was pronounced deceased, while Webb and Dunnavant were also transported to Holzer Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and were both released.
Both the deceased and Dunnavant were not wearing safety belts.
