Ill. Ambulance, Police Car Crash Leaves Several Injured

A police car and an ambulance were driving to different locations Saturday evening when they collided in the area of Linwood Street and W. Chicago Boulevard in Detroit's Boston Edison neighborhood.

According to a preliminary report, the police car, occupied by two officers, hit the ambulance at approximately 9:50 p.m., and the ambulance rolled over.

One of the officers was then trapped inside of the police car, which ended up pushed against the porch of a house. There were no injuries to anyone inside of the home, the report said.

Fire rescue extricated the officer from the car, and the report said he and his partner were transported to the hospital. One is stable, while the other is in temporarily serious condition.

Two EMTs and a 35-year-old male patient were inside of the rig, the report said.

An EMT was also trapped inside of the ambulance, until he was rescued and transported to the hospital with his partner. According to the report, both EMTs are in temporarily serious condition.

Police said the 35-year-old patient is in stable condition.

A police investigation of the incident is ongoing.
