The brother of an Uxbridge firefighter accused of sexual assault is facing a similar charge in court, records show.
Roughly two weeks after Uxbridge Firefighter Abraham Rodas was arraigned in court on three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, 47-year-old Esdras Rodas was arraigned on one count of the same charge, records on file in Uxbridge District Court show.
Esdras Rodas, of Whitinsville, was arraigned on one count of indecent assault and battery on a child in Uxbridge District Court on Aug. 21. His brother had been arraigned on Aug. 9.
Records show Esdras Rodas was released on personal recognizance and returns to court next month.
Douglas police began investigating a report of a past alleged sexual assault in February when a woman spoke to authorities.
The woman, now 25, told authorities Esdras Rodas sexually assaulted her when she was between the ages of 8 and 9, according to a statement of facts on file in Uxbridge District Court.
The woman said she was in third grade at the time. The alleged assault took place in a Douglas home, which is the same address listed in court records for Abraham Rodas. The alleged assault occurred between 2002 and 2004, records said.
According to the police report, the woman said Esdras Rodas had her sleep in his bed and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping.
A Douglas police investigator tried to speak to Esdras Rodas, but he referred all questions to his lawyer.
Abraham Rodas, 46, of East Douglas, was placed on administrative leave by the Uxbridge Fire Department after he was arraigned early this month.
His EMT/paramedic license has been suspended by the state, records show.
The firefighter posted $10,000 cash bail and ordered to stay away from alleged victims in the case, according to court records.
Police accuse Abraham Rodas of sexually assaulting two girls, both who were about the age of 10, in December 2018.
One girl told police in August that Abraham Rodas kissed her on the lips and kissed her on the cheek for too long while at his home, court records said.
The second girl accused Abraham Rodas of sexually assaulting her twice, records said. He returns to Uxbridge District Court the same day as his brother.
The brothers and their father had all faced similar charges in the past, according to records.
Lisandro Rodas and Esdras Rodas were both found not guilty on indecent assault and battery on a child charges in 2012 and 2011, respectively.
Abraham Rodas was not found not guilty of statutory rape in 2009, but was found guilty of assault and battery.
