The Wichita Eagle
An ambulance crashed after the driver lost control on a snowy interstate in central Kansas on Wednesday, state troopers said.
Emergency crews were called at around 10:32 a.m. to an injury accident on I-35 near mile marker 99, which would be northeast of El Dorado, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report. Investigators determined a 2014 Chevy ambulance was northbound when the driver “lost control on the slushy road, overcorrected and struck the barrier wall and the guard rail.”
The 37-year-old Wichita woman driving the ambulance was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle with suspected minor injuries.
The KHP crash report shows a 2016 Peterbilt semi was also involved in the wreck. The 30-year-old Missouri woman driving the semi had no apparent injury.
At the time of the crash, central Kansas was under in a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service office in Wichita that predicted a few inches of snow and rain would fall across the region.
