Texas Police Department on Their Game with 2016
April 05--The number of police and fire calls during February were consistent with the year before, according to activity reports published in the current City of Plainview newsletter.
The March 2017 city newsletter was posted on the City of Plainview website (PlainviewTx.org) over the weekend.
The Police Department Report for February 2017 indicates that the department 2,126 total calls for service, compared to 2,218 during the same period in 2016.
That includes 1,922 police calls (2,012 in February 2016), 18 fire calls (26), 186 EMS calls (180), 330 in primary categories (258), 84 total arrests (61), 177 citations issued on 233 violations (168 on 222 violations), 235 reports written (223) and 92 cases assigned for further investigation.
Plainview Fire/EMS reported 188 total EMS responses during February 2017 (196 in February 2016). That includes 144 patient transports (156 in 2016). Broken down, the total includes 116 Plainview residents (132) and 28 non-residents (24). Forty-four of the calls resulted in no-transports (40).
The Plainview Fire Department recorded 179 total fire responses during the month (173 in February 2016).
By category, those numbers include two structure fires (5), two vehicle fires (0), 15 trash/rubbish fires (6), 137 EMS assists (147), one involving hazardous conditions (4), two false alarms (0), and 20 miscellaneous responses (11).
The Plainview Fire Department filled one vacancy in February. Plainview native and five-year Hale Center resident Randall "Shane" Rowell joined the force. He graduated from Wolfforth Fire Academy and received his EMS training at Hale Center EMS. He is now enrolled in the Plainview Paramedic Course. Rowell also serves as a member of the Hale Center VFD.
