36 Public Safety Leaders Graduate from Communication Center Manager Program
Platte City, MO: Fitch & Associates recently recognized the graduates of the 2023 Fall Communication Center Manager (CCM) program in Oklahoma City.
Thirty-six EMS and public safety professionals from across the nation recently completed the blended learning program, which included online learning and two separate weeks in a classroom setting. Students were engaged in a rigorous curriculum designed to develop and enhance the skills of today’s effective emergency services leader. Attendees gained insight and practical knowledge from Jay Fitch, Ph.D., Anthony Minge, EdD, Hannah Fitch, M.Div., Jennifer Kirkland and other experienced EMS industry leaders.
Each CCM class recognizes one student with a leadership award, an honor bestowed upon them by their peers. The award is presented to a classmate whom the students feel has exhibited exceptional personal and professional leadership qualities throughout the course and who the students feel represents the best in emergency services. The Fall 2023 CCM leadership award was presented to Keenan Leonard-Solis, dispatch supervisor with Georgetown Police Department in Massachusetts.
“Being chosen by my class as the recipient of the CCM Leadership Award was a tremendous and humbling honor that I will never forget. I put my best self forward at CCM precisely because each and every one of my classmates inspired me to push myself as far as I could go. My life is made all the richer by the interactions I shared with them, and I am grateful to them for helping me to grow and develop as a leader,” said Leonard-Solis.
Lauren Hill was recognized as runner-up. The Fall 2023 CCM Leadership Award is named in honor of Carlynn Crampton. Crampton was instrumental in the early development and facilitation of CCM. Her insight, passion, and determination for excellence in communication and dispatch center development helped provide the foundation and continue to be an inspiration for the program today.
In addition to the leadership award, one group project is also chosen from each class to be represented at Pinnacle. The Fall 2023 project winner was “Diabetes and the Emergency Telecommunicator” by Trina Deary, Gena Baker, Steffanie Ferrera, Brendan Gray, Jennifer Johnston, Seth Martinez, and Aimee Nicolson.
CCM participants that successfully complete the program are recognized at the IAED’s Annual Navigator Conference, held each spring. The course is recognized by the National Emergency Number Association for credit toward the recertification of the Emergency Number Professional certificate.
