Century Ambulance Honors Healthcare Heroes at EMS Week Celebrations and Dedicates New Headquarters
Jacksonville, Fla. – In recognition of 2023 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 21-27, Century Ambulance honored employees and partners with special events in Taylor, Columbia, and Broward Counties, as well as in Jacksonville, Fla. and officially dedicated its new headquarters with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Century Ambulance employees were bestowed awards during the local ceremonies held throughout the state and guests included employers, local officials, and honored guests.
“We are proud of our dedicated team of EMTs, paramedics, and other emergency medicine and transportation employees. They continually rise to new challenges, go above and beyond what is expected of them, and provide superior medical care in the field,” said Rick Fields, Senior Vice President of Operations for Covalent Health.
The following persons were recognized during ceremonies this week:
Taylor County honored Tracy “Glen” Davis as Paramedic of the Year and Brian Cunningham as EMT of The Year. Davis was given the honor for his outstanding patient care during the past year and for being an essential part of the Century team. Cunningham often receives praise from citizens in the community for his excellent bedside manner and patient care.
Columbia County award recipients were Paramedic of the Year, Scott Jackson, and EMT of the year, Dylan Prince. Jackson, employed for a year, is said to have grown into an exceptional clinician and is an integral part of the Century team. Prince, also an employee for one year, is a DRT member (Disaster Response Team), and she was recognized for doing an outstanding job in training new EMTs.
In Jacksonville, Heather Stores was honored as Paramedic of the Year, and Charles Lane III was announced as EMT of the Year. Stores received recognition for being an outstanding employee who is always willing to take new employees under her wing and teach them everything she knows. Lane serves as a Critical Care EMT on the Trauma One Ground One unit and was recognized this year for his positive attitude and excellent patient care.
Century Ambulance in Jacksonville also recognized an important group of EMS employees who were acknowledged for the care they provided to the victim of a motorcycle accident they witnessed while returning back to post in Jacksonville. Daniel Palmeri, EMT; Anthony Carter, PMD; and Austin Ray, EMT, are receiving the Excellence in Patient Care Award.
In Broward County, Kent Ottens, and Edward Leyland were awarded for their service. Ottens works full-time as a teacher during the day and then he works the night shift providing excellent patient care. Leyland was recognized for being a leader and role model for those around him. He also serves the community as a state fire marshal.
