National Registry Reaches Half-Million Mark
COLUMBUS, OH—The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (National Registry) announced March 16, 2023, that more than 500,000 EMS clinicians are currently nationally certified at the EMR, EMT, AEMT or paramedic level.
This is the largest number of nationally certified personnel in the 53-year history of the National Registry.
“The National Registry is proud to hit the milestone of having a half million nationally certified EMS clinicians," said Bill Seifarth, CEO and executive director of the National Registry. “Despite this important milestone, the National Registry remains committed to working closely with national and state partners to collectively address the workforce challenges facing many EMS agencies across the nation."
More than 340,000 of those nationally certified are at the EMT level, while 126,500 are paramedics. The remaining certified clinicians are either AEMT (23,000) or EMR (13,000).
