N.J. Volunteer EMS Agency Offering Free Housing for New Recruits

Attention all EMTs:
Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps (TVAC) in Teaneck, NJ is offering an opportunity for anyone with a valid EMT certification free housing in return for providing staffing to our headquarters. The details are as follows:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Full/part time student or full/part time employment
- EMT certified with at least 1 year of experience
- CPR certified - BLS for the Healthcare provider
- Blood Borne Pathogen certification
- Driver’s license with no violations
- No criminal record
- Own personal health insurance
- Maintenance of current certification

In the interest of public safety, in order to reduce response times, and to aim for 24/7 staffing, TVAC is establishing living facilities for volunteer members. This is in order to ensure requests for help in the township get covered in a timely manner. These facilities are available at no cost to those who qualify and pass the vetting process.
TVAC is an independent, non-profit organization that has provided emergency ambulance services to the township of Teaneck and its residents since 1939. TVAC is staffed completely by volunteers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our annual emergency call count is approximately 4,500 in 2018. TVAC’s call volume ranks it as the busiest ambulance squad in Bergen County and the second busiest all volunteer squad in all of New Jersey.
Teaneck is a community of 39,776 people. It is located in the Eastern portion of Bergen County, approximately 6 miles from New York City with ample public transportation availability. Teaneck has a very diverse population of different ethnicities and cultures.
TVAC is the primary provider of ambulance services to several pieces of critical infrastructure: Holy Name Medical Center, Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey National Guard Armory, PSE&G Electric Substation, CSX Freight Railroad line, County Highway Route 4 (which leads directly to the George Washington Bridge to New York) and two interstate highways: Route 80 and Route 95 (which merge in our response area). We also respond to two major hotels in our township.
Through mutual aid agreements we respond to multiple surrounding towns as well as Meadowlands Complex and the Miracle on the Hudson Plane Crash.
