Ind. EMT Receives Stars of Life Award

July 3—Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) emergency medical technician Terry Masters received one of the American Ambulance Association’s prestigious Stars of Life award. The award recognizes ambulance service professionals for outstanding performance and dedication to the emergency medical services (EMS) profession. 

“Terry Masters is an extraordinary EMS professional who maintains a positive attitude and consistently gives top care to his patients,” said Rob Smith, chief operating officer of Three Rivers Ambulance Authority. “We’re proud Stars of Life has recognized Terry’s accomplishments.”

Masters was nominated for his passion for the EMS profession. He has provided compassionate, quality care and service to his patients throughout his 40 years of service as an EMT. 

As one example, Masters was part of the TRAA team that provided medical treatment to an eight-month-old girl who sustained serious injuries from a dog bite in December 2017. Masters helped control the girl’s bleeding and maintain an open airway as they transported her to the nearest hospital. The child recovered, thanks to the quick response and life-saving actions by Masters and his team. 

Masters has received many commendations from patients and coworkers. He acts as a role model for his peers, and is quick to help where needed within the organization.

Masters was among 100 emergency service personnel recognized during the Stars of Life Celebration in Washington, D.C. on June 24-26.
