Gathering of Eagles Officially Moves to South Florida

Leading EMS Medical Directors and their friends from all over the globe will now convene their acclaimed
Gathering of Eagles annual meeting from June 8-12, 2020 at the newly-constructed Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in a joint effort with the longstanding and highly-respected First There, First Care Conference hosted by the Fire Chiefs’ Association of Broward County (FCABC).
The all-new, five-day collaborative event will begin with three days of the exceptionally popular EMS and nursing competitions, pre-conference workshops and keynote presentations, all orchestrated by the FCABC in conjunction with local hospitals. During the final two days of this highly anticipated conference, the Eagles will present their usual didactic and learning magic with over 100 envelope-pushing sessions from celebrated EMS Medical Directors from across the globe.
First There, First Care – Gathering of Eagles: A 2020 Vision of EMS
The new synergistic symposium combines two high-impact meetings with longstanding track records for progressive and effective learning, with over four decades experience between the two organizational teams. The conference planners expect that, with the merger, the 2020 meeting will quickly hit hotel capacity based on prior attendance at both respective conferences and the usual sell-out for “Eagles.” Coupled with the South Florida beaches, nearby cruise lines and other attractions, many other organizations and vendors have strongly supported this move. The main attraction may be the venue itself: the new Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. It's an amazing, guitar-shaped hotel and entertainment center with numerous world-class restaurants, bars and other entertainment features right on site.
The FCABC has gained international recognition because of its members’ ability to maintain a cohesive and highly innovative system of care across multiple EMS agencies. The First There, First Care conference is in its 24th year and annually attracts more than 600 EMS professionals, nurses and physicians from the South Florida region alone.
The Eagles have evolved into a cohesive global consortium, known for cutting-edge education and intrepid operational advances in out-of-hospital emergency care. The group is comprised of the accountable jurisdictional Medical Directors of the 60 to 70 largest municipalities in the U.S., Europe and other global regions as well as several key counterparts from U.S. federal agencies. Despite minimal advertising of their meetings, Eagles’ audiences are often comprised of more than 1000 attendees, all by word of mouth.
Fire Chief Frank Babinec of the Coral Springs–Parkland Fire Department and president of the FCABC said, “We love it. South Florida will now become the recognized epicenter of progressive EMS knowledge for the entire world as we bring together the best and brightest minds in prehospital care for this great event.”
Fire Chief Don DiPetrillo of Seminole Tribe Fire Rescue has said that he thinks the hotel will sell out, thanks to the uniqueness of the venue and its reasonable rates negotiated for conference attendees.
Attendees are advised to fly into the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a short 15-minute (7 mile) ride to the hotel and meeting venue.

The Fire Chief's Association of Broward County (FCABC) is composed of Chief Fire Officers from the 29 municipalities in Broward County and representatives of Broward's Trauma Agency, the American Red Cross, Division of Forestry, and Broward County Emergency Management. The Association has been the driving force behind the First There First Care Conference and has introduced the latest trends and techniques to both pre- hospital providers and emergency department nurses. About the Eagles Coalition
The faculty and facilitators, derived from the Metropolitan Municipalities EMS Medical Directors Alliance (The "Eagles" Coalition) is comprised of most of the jurisdictional EMS Medical Directors for the nation's 60 to 70 largest
U.S. cities' 9-1-1 systems and the chief medical officers for several pivotal federal agencies such as the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, White House Medical Unit, as well as numerous global counterparts – from Paris to Auckland and from Berlin to Manila. This small but cohesive cadre of leading emergency medical services specialists are responsible for stewarding the medical protocols and respective training for all aspects of day-to-day 9-1-1 / 9-9-9 / 1-1-3 type emergency responses within their respective jurisdictions, encompassing well over 120 million residents and visitors. They seek and drive the best practices for early resuscitative interventions for trauma, stroke, cardiac care and other critical emergencies, not to mention the medical aspects of homeland security and disaster management in these high-risk venues. Their ability to deal with these significant responsibilities is, in many ways, facilitated by the close cooperation of this unique convocation of physicians, who also generally serve as the main interface between local government and the medical community at large in these metropolitan municipalities and who are always eager to share their findings and experience with others.
