NPPGov Public Safety GPO Partners with Alabama FOP
PRESS RELEASE
SEATTLE, WA—NPPGov Public Safety GPO, a leader in public safety cooperative purchasing, including law enforcement, announced Jan. 4 a direct partnership with the Alabama State Fraternal Order of Police.
Alabama State FOP President Everette Johnson worked with Mika Kawakami, association manager for Public Safety GPO, to provide competitive cooperative options to the Alabama State FOP members.
NPPGov currently offers over 100 publicly procured agreements for products and services, along with a discount program for individual members from over 20 vendors, including AT&T FirstNet, Axon, GearGrid, Zoll and more. NPPGov owns all their own agreements with most being publicly solicited and awarded by a Lead Public Agency.
“The Alabama State Fraternal Order of Police is excited to partner directly with Public Safety GPO to offer our members departmental and individual discounts, which will save them time and money on products they use every day,” said Johnson. “We feel a direct relationship with Public Safety GPO is in the best interest of our members and our industry.”
Alabama State FOP was formed in 1947 and serves as the Law Enforcement Association for the State of Alabama. Alabama State FOP membership represents more than 8,000 law enforcement professionals. The association consists of 11 executive officers who act as the voice for law enforcement for both in-state and national issues. These officers are tasked with understanding and managing key issues for the law enforcement service throughout the state.
“We see a real need to offer organizations, like Alabama State FOP, the opportunity to secure national contracted pricing based on the buying power of our 45,000 member organizations,” said Bill DeMars, executive director of NPPGov.
NPPGov Public Safety GPO is a program of NPPGov, a national cooperative procurement organization offering publicly solicited contracts to public safety departments nationwide. NPPGov contracts are created through a public RFP process by a Lead Public Agency, allowing members to "piggyback" on the contracts, thus eliminating the need to complete their own RFP process. NPPGov Public Safety GPO staff and legal counsel facilitate the process, providing necessary documentation and support.
NPPGov membership is free with no obligation to purchase. All members have access to a broad range of publicly solicited contracts with discounted pricing, as well as individual discount programs. NPPGov is owned by nonprofit hospitals and a substantial portion of proceeds help support medical research at Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) in Seattle.
