Brijesh Mehta on Stroke Training for EMS

EMS plays a critical role in the prompt recognition, acute treatment and transport decisions for patients with suspected stroke. Neurointerventional surgeon Brijesh Mehta, MD, director of the comprehensive stroke center at Memorial Neuroscience Institute in Florida, recently held a training session on stroke care to students in the paramedic science program at Bergen Community College in New Jersey. Mehta provides an overview of stroke basics, acute therapies, the critical role of EMS, RACE scale training, parallel hospital workflow, educational cases and EMS outreach.
