New Study in Heart Rhythm Highlights Significant Reductions in Alert Burden Using AI Algorithms and Leveraging PaceMate’s Advanced Data Capabilities

PaceMate Press Release

SARASOTA, Fla. -- A newly published study in Heart Rhythm reveals how artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms embedded in Medtronic’s LINQ II implantable loop recorders (ILRs) dramatically reduce alert and episode burdens, thanks to data analysis using data from PaceMate’s flagship product, PaceMateLIVE™.

Titled Use of Artificial Intelligence Algorithms to Reduce Transmissions in Implantable Loop Recorders, this research marks a pivotal advancement in reducing the workload associated with remote cardiac monitoring. The study, led by researchers across multiple institutions, reports that AI-driven algorithms decrease alert burdens by 20% and reduce episode burdens by 40% among patients monitored with LINQ II devices. These algorithms, which were approved by the FDA in 2021 and released in early 2022, filter out false-positive alerts for atrial fibrillation and pauses before data reaches the clinical team.

This study relied on an extensive de-identified data set from 26 U.S. healthcare centers, with transmissions centrally received and analyzed by CareLink before filtering by PaceMate's expert staff. The PaceMateLIVE platform enabled researchers to assess the full impact of AccuRhythm AI’s filtering capabilities on clinical alert volume and efficiency.

Key Findings:

20% Reduction in Alert Burden: AI filtering significantly decreases the number of non-critical alerts requiring clinician attention.

40% Reduction in Episode Burden: AI algorithms help eliminate redundant episodes, streamlining the data that reaches healthcare teams for review.

Tripp Higgins, CEO of PaceMate®, commented on the study’s findings: “This research affirms the transformative impact of innovative technology in cardiac remote monitoring. The reduction in unnecessary alerts and transmissions coupled with the simplified data workflows offered by PaceMateLIVE provides clinicians with the tools they need to focus on what matters most—providing timely, targeted care to patients. PaceMate is proud to play a key role in advancing these solutions."

Data from the PaceMateLIVE advanced monitoring and analysis platform enables this study to illustrate AI’s potential to transform cardiac remote monitoring, easing clinician workload while improving patient care quality.
