TRANSCRIPT:

Dr. Abraham:
Hi everyone. I'm Dr. Bincy Abraham, Professor of Clinical Medicine at Houston Methodist Academic Institute and Well Cornell. I did a presentation this morning regarding treatment goals and strategies. Now, if you were unable to attend, I just want to let you know my key take home points from this presentation.

I discussed the STRIDE-II guidelines as well as the ACG and AGA care pathway for treating inflammatory bowel disease. I stressed the importance of assessing disease severity and how to initiate appropriate therapy based on their severity as well as comorbidities. I also discussed setting up appropriate follow up for treatment targets based on our guidelines, and that we need to be moving from just symptomatic remission to endoscopic remission, to overall improve our outcomes. I also discussed that we can use non-invasive markers or imaging when colonoscopy is not ideal for those patients. And once we do get our patients into endoscopic remission, we do need to continue monitoring them and maintain remission long term. Thank you.
