Deepak Bhatt, MD, MPH, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Invasive Cardiology (JIC), and Hady Lichaa, MD, discuss the recent iodinated contrast media shortage as well as Dr Lichaa's recent JIC article on an alternative to iodinated contrast that uses group II gadolinium (Gd)-based contrast agents, to complement IVUS, in order to achieve the goal of zero-contrast percutaneous coronary intervention, without raising the risk of CIN.
