Topical Solution Recalled

Vi-Jon Inc. is recalling 6756 bottles of hydrogen peroxide first-aid antiseptic solution and oral debriding agent because of concerns about cross contamination, according to the March 13, 2019, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.

Affected by the recall are 32-ounce bottles of hydrogen peroxide (NDC 53943-871-45, UPC 0-93351-12758-8) distributed in Ohio by Discount Drug Mart. The recalled solution is from lot 0384244, which has an expiration date of January 2020.

Vi-Jon voluntarily initiated the recall February 20, 2019. On March 7, 2019, the FDA designated the recall Class II. According to the classification, use of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or a remote possibility of serious harm.

Hydrogen peroxide solution is used to prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns, and to aid removal of phlegm, mucus, or other secretions associated with a sore mouth.
