OTC Laxative Recalled

Pharma Nobis is recalling 24,684 bottles of Good Neighbor Pharmacy magnesium citrate saline laxative because of microbial contamination. According to the January 24, 2024, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, Acetobacter nitrogenifigens bacteria were identified in the product.

The recall affects cherry-flavored Good Neighbor Pharmacy magnesium citrate saline laxative, dye-free and sugar-free oral solution, 10 fluid ounces (NDC 46122-741-38), from lots A80673 and A80742 (Exp. 10/31/25). The product was distributed throughout the United States by AmerisourceBergen, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

Pharma Nobis voluntarily initiated the recall December 21, 2023. On January 12, 2024, the FDA designated the recall Class II. Drugs affected by Class II recalls may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences if used. While remote, a possibility of serious harm also exists.

Magnesium citrate liquid is an over-the-counter laxative used to relieve occasional constipation.
