AACS Announces New “Women in Cosmetic Surgery” Section

As part of growing change in the field of cosmetic surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) announced the newly created AACS Women in Cosmetic Surgery Section (WICS). The forum will support the professional and personal development of female cosmetic surgeon members of AACS.

The subgroup offers opportunities to network, connect through a mentorship, develop leadership skills, and more to better promote the growth of women as cosmetic surgeons. It is spearheaded by Jane Petro, MD, professor of surgery, emerita, at New York Medical College (Valhalla, NY), and Suzan Obagi, MD, associate professor of dermatology and of plastic surgery at University of Pittsburgh (PA).

Additional leadership of the WICS Committee include Rania Agha, MD; Cynthia A. Buono, DO; Annalise Boisvert, MD, FACOG, NCMP; Roxana Barad, MD; Jessica West, DO; Sheila Barbarino, MD, FAAO, FACS; Tiziana Lazzari, MD (international member); and Sepideh Sabooree, MD, DMD (resident member).
