Circulator Boot

Website: www.circulatorboot.com
Contact: (610) 240-9980; info@circulatorboot.com
Location: Malvern, PA
Founded: 1988

Product Lines: End-Diastolic Pneumatic Compression (EDPC) system for clinical use.

Description: The Circulator Boot offers advanced treatment for wound care and arterial/venous insufficiency and is the only cardio-synchronous compression system approved by the FDA for patients with peripheral arterial disease, ischemic ulcers, rest pain, claudication, venous stasis, lymphedema, diabetic foot and pre/post arterial reconstruction. The therapy increases blood flow to treat chronic ulcers and pain in the feet and legs. This patent protected non-invasive system is designed for clinical use only and requires little training or floor space. Large studies including over 2,000 patient cases shows a 93% success rate in saving limbs from amputation.

Advice for Clinicians: Cardio-synchronous timing matters! During Circulator Boot therapy, the leg is compressed with diastolic pressures, which are sufficient to expel both lymph fluid and venous blood from the leg. The use of diastolic pressure for compression minimizes backward flow through the arteries. The end-diastolic timing of the compressions allows the arterial pulse waves to enter the leg unimpeded. The arrival of the arterial pulse wave increases the volume of arterial blood in the leg, which is then disseminated to low-pressure areas in the leg by the boot compressions much as water is disseminated through a half-wetted sponge when it is squeezed.

Product Lines:
    • PROFORE®
    • PROFORE LITE
    • PROFORE Latex Free
    • PROFORE Wound Contact Layer
    • PROGUIDE®
    • PROGUIDE Wound Contact Layer

Featured Product Description: PROFORE is a multi-layer elastic sustained compression bandaging system, which provides effective, graduated, sustained compression. PROFORE provides higher pressure at the ankle, with decreasing pressure exhibited at the calf. PROFORE provides sufficient absorptive capacity to manage exudate for a full week. PROFORE has been clinically proven to successfully close 79% of leg ulcers in 12 weeks.¹

Advice for Clinicians: How to decide which product to use: Select PROFORE for the management of venous leg ulcers and associated conditions.

PROFORE Lite is a Reduced Compression Bandaging System designed for the management of ‘mixed’ etiology leg ulcers where assessment has identified some degree of arterial impairment, which prevents the use of full compression.

PROFORE Contraindications: Do not use on patients with an ankle brachial pressure index of less than 0.8 (PROFORE) or 0.6 (PROFORE Lite) or on diabetic patients with advanced small vessel disease.

Thermotek, Inc.

Website: www.thermotekusa.com
Contact: (877) 242-3232 or (972)874-4949; thermotek@thermotekusa.com
Location: Flower Mound, TX
Founded: 1993

Key Product Description: The VascuComp is designed to enhance blood flow by providing targeted sequential compression of the foot followed by the calf using a rapid inflation/deflation pressure pulse. The compression cycle initiates with a quick compression of the popliteal space of the foot to 120mmHg, followed by a one second interval, then a sequential compression of the calf to 120mmHg within two seconds. Following the compression phase, the wraps are deflated rapidly and held at rest for a period of sixteen seconds. The cycle is repeated three times per minute. This compression cycle accelerates venous velocity, which results in improved arterial flow. The rapid inflation to 120mmHg produces sheer stresses within the veins which causes a biologically induced vasodilatory effect.

Advice for Clinicians: When comparing compression products a clinician should choose the product appropriate for the therapy desired. One advantage of the VascuComp device is that it offers multiple therapies for Arterial Insufficiency, Lymphedema and DVT Prophylaxis. The clinician simply chooses the desired therapy setting and the patient only needs to press one button to start and stop therapy. The VascuComp is the only device available that offers all three of these therapy modalities in one compact unit.

Carolon Company

Website: www.carolon.com
Contact: 1-800-336-0414; carolon@carolon.com
Location: Rural Hall, NC
Founded: 1972

Product Lines: Anti-embolism stockings, ambulatory compression garments, wound care compression hosiery and primary dressings.

Key Product Description: The Carolon Multi-Layer 30-40 mmHg and 40-50 mmHg Systems produce the same compression values and versatility as multi-layer bandages but allow for superior compression control. The Multi-Layer Compression System maintains accurate compression levels and can be removed and re-applied for dressing changes by the patient. The encouragement for patient involvement in compression application is a key factor to the Multi-Layer’s efficacy in healing and long-term prevention of recurrence. The Multi-Layer is an additional tool in the healing process for the care provider insuring accurate, precise compression and improved treatment and patient quality of life.

Advice for Clinicians: Compliance remains the single most important factor in the selection of compression garments for wound treatment. With a vast range of compression garments to choose from, the clinician must decide ultimately which compression stocking will be best tolerated by the patient. No matter how well a particular product is constructed or conceived, there can no benefit to the patient if the garment cannot be applied or tolerated comfortably. For this reason, Carolon has developed compression garments that are easier to apply and more comfortable to wear. This combination of compliance through comfort, along with accurate, certified compression levels ensures that your patients receive the optimum compression treatment trough the use of Carolon compression hosiery.

Farrow Medical Innovations

Website: www.farrowmedical.com
Contact: (979) 822-9120; sales@farrowmedical.com
Location: Bryan, TX
Founded: 2004

Product Lines: Proprietary short-stretch compression garments.

Key Product Description: FarrowWrap Trim-to-Fit™ (TTF) is our new trimmable product line of proprietary short-stretch compression garments for wound care, edema, and venous insufficiency. The garment consists of a series of connected bands with Velcro® fasteners. You can trim the garment, customizing it to your patient's specific measurements onsite. FarrowWrap TTF™ comes in two fabrics: LITE, for mild to moderate edema and STRONG, for moderate to severe edema and lymphedema. It can be used in place of short-stretch bandaging or compression stockings. FarrowWrap TTF™ is very easy to don and doff. Garments can be machine-washed.

Advice for Clinicians: When choosing the right product to stock in the clinic, it is important to consider your patients and your clinic. FarrowWrap™ products are some of the best on the market, but we recognize that they may not be the right solution for all patients. Approach each patient individually and evaluate their diagnosis, level of compliance, and ability to use certain products. Another consideration is the space available for inventory. FarrowWrap TTF™ saves shelf space by eliminating the need to stock multiple sizes, as it comes in one customizable size that will fit the majority of patients.
