NEW WOUND CLINIC HELPS HOSPITAL EARN HONOR

Redwood Area Hospital, Redwood Falls, MN, is being recognized by iVantage Health Analytics and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for providing overall excellence in quality care and for achieving financial strength, according to a report in the West Central Tribune. The honor reflects the hospital’s placing in the top quartile among all rural acute care hospitals in the nation through an assessment conducted by iVantage and the NOSORH.

Among the new programs and initiatives the hospital has enacted in earning the honor is a wound care clinic, which opened within the last two years; a telemedicine program; increased orthopedic specialty coverage with total joint replacement surgery; and increased availability for sleep studies. The organization has also built a health pavilion in an effort to increase home care, hospice, and adult day services while doubling dialysis chairs. This recognition was given as part of National Rural Health Day (Nov. 17) as an opportunity to honor the spirit of rural American healthcare and provide an opportunity to highlight the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face while showcasing the efforts of rural healthcare providers, according to the report.
