New Wound Clinic Opens In California

The Henry Mayo Newhall Wound Care Clinic has officially opened its doors in Valencia, CA. Plans for the facility have developed over the past 10 years, according to a report on www.hometownstation.com. The clinic houses hyperbaric oxygen chambers, meaning that local residents won’t have to necessarily travel into Palmdale or UCLA to get that treatment. A ribbon cutting was held July 26.

Healogics Names Nurse of the Year

Julie Willey, RN, a clinical coordinator nurse on staff with Bayhealth, has been named the Mary Cook Nurse of the Year Award by Healogics.TM The award is named after Mary Cook, a Healogics employee and wound care pioneer who passed away in 2010. Healogics presents the award annually to a dedicated, skilled, compassionate nurse manager whose commitment to the patient and improvement in wound care is at the forefront of everything they do, officials said. “It’s a huge honor to be recognized nationally by Healogics,” Willey said in a prepared release. “To know that the work I did over the last year at Bayhealth was significant enough to win this award is very satisfying.” Willey traveled to Arizona to accept the award during a banquet and award ceremony. “I knew it was a big deal, but I didn’t know how big until I got there,” she said. “I had to give a speech at the award ceremony and they really went all out. It was a huge honor.” Willey’s nomination outlined the ways that she goes above and beyond her expected duties to ensure the successful healing of Bayhealth patients by furthering her education and demonstrating integrity and commitment while continually elevating the care she provides.
