New Wound Clinic Partnering With Kent State

Chronic wound patients at the newly opened Wound Care and Research Clinic located within the
Cleveland Foot and Ankle Clinic in downtown Cleveland, OH, will reportedly be enrolled in clinical trials through a partnership that the facility has formed with Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine.

According to a report by Patch, enrollment for qualified patients began Oct. 24 and the trials include the use of amniotic tissue grafts and offloading casts.

“Given the climate of healthcare today, the increasing need for advanced wound care therapies in this growing patient population, and due to the unlimited potential opportunities to establish Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine in this evolving sector in both clinical research and publishing, we saw the need to open a wound care and research clinic,” said Windy Cole, DPM, associate professor and director of the wound care program at the college. “My hope is to help many of our area’s uninsured and underinsured patients receive treatments they may otherwise be unable to have,” she said.
