New Intellicure App Provides Nutrition Guidance

Intellicure recently released a feature inside its wound care electronic health record (EHR) and wound care app that, with a single click, lets physicians fill a patient's online shopping cart with recommended nutritional supplements. Better nutrition, the company notes, will help patients achieve successful wound healing. The patient later receives an email with instructions on completing the checkout process.

Intellicure notes it previously automated the prescribing and ordering of medications and durable medical equipment inside its wound care EHR and its recently released SMART wound care app. However, the company says certain nutritional supplements that are clinically proven to support wound management in some patients are sold over the counter. Often physicians will write down these supplement names and quantities for patients to purchase on their own time, but the company says this leaves the physician to wonder if the patient ordered the correct products and quantities needed for a speedy recovery.
