An Inside Look at Net Health Systems, Inc.

August 2011
Today’s Wound Clinic spoke with Patrick Colletti, President/Board Director, Net Health Systems, Inc. to learn more about the company’s needs and goals for the future. Today’s Wound Clinic (TWC): What is your name and title? Patrick Colletti (PC): Patrick Colletti, President/Board Director, Net Health Systems, Inc. TWC: How long have you personally been in wound care and how did you enter this area of healthcare? PC: My experience in wound care began in the late 1990s as the result of working with a vascular surgeon involved with limb salvage, a podiatrist who ran a residency program with a wound specialty, and several long-term care (LTC) facilities. The common denominator was that they all required a solution for documenting wound care, measuring outcomes, and implementing best practices. Individually they were performing quality wound care, but were seeking ways to understand, illustrate, and compare notes. TWC: What do you find most rewarding about providing your products/services to medical directors and wound care clinicians? PC: Healthcare is undergoing an incredible shift both in terms of our understanding of our own health/wellness and as better technology and research-driven care. From a software and analytics perspective, Net Health is leading the charge in the wound care environment. It has been incredibly rewarding to help clients navigate the complexities of implementing an electronic health record (EHR) that is both compliant with government regulations and improves care delivery. While any change in workflow can be daunting, our clients have shown us time and time again that it is well worth it. Also, we receive feedback from clients regularly who thank us for helping to make their Joint Commission visit much easier, and I’ve heard so many stories of patients who were encouraged by pictorial reports illustrating their wound healing. That feels terrific. TWC: Which would you say is your highest selling product or service, and why do you feel it is so popular? PC: Over 15,000 physicians, clinicians, and healthcare professionals across the US use our software systems in more than 800 clinics to improve patient care and facility performance. We are consistently recognized for our commitment to customer service, providing full support from pre-implementation to day-to-day client interactions. We partner with industry leaders to provide a completely connected system that expedites many of the mundane tasks of operating a wound clinic. Net Health is the only technology company that provides a truly state-of-the-art technology platform, backed by a team of physicians, nurses, and highly seasoned wound care industry experts. I think when you combine the sophistication of our technology with the experience and size of our team it makes all the difference. TWC: What would you say makes your company unique? PC: A physician founded Net Health and today the company is led by a professional team with in-depth experience operating wound and hyperbaric centers, and, quite frankly, growing successful businesses. Our change control team and advisory board consists of physicians, clinicians, and industry leaders. That means we are consistently improving our products and services, which directly benefits our clients.   Also, Net Health is unique in terms of culture. In addition to consistently being ranked as a fast growing company, for the last four years, Net Health has been rated “best place to work” in our region. We spend a great deal of time finding the right people and have an eight week on-boarding program for all employees, which focuses on strength based training and emotional intelligence. Each employee also develops a personal mission, vision, and values statement that ultimately is incorporated in their work. We have also designed all of the company’s artwork, which makes for a pretty unique experience when visiting our Pittsburgh headquarters. TWC: How do you make sure that clinicians are properly trained on your products or services? PC: Every new client engagement begins with a thorough pre-training assessment to ensure that the software solution is set up for the facility’s ideal workflow preference. This assessment is conducted by a professional that has operated a wound clinic and understands clinic workflow, which allows the training to be customized to individual clinic needs. Next, our training team—which consists of WoundExpert Certified software trainers, nurses, and former wound clinic program directors—spends time with each user on site to ensure the staff has a comprehensive understanding of their roles. On-site trainings last between 2 to 5 days, with follow-up trainings available typically at 90 and 180 days. Ongoing education is available through online tutorials and “refresher” webinars to keep staff continually up-to-date on new functionality. TWC: Please describe any of your company’s goals for the future that you would like to highlight. PC: Earlier this year we received ONC Certification. This is a first for the wound care industry and means that clients who demonstrate meaningful use with WoundExpert are eligible for incentive payments from the government of up to $44,000. Our future goals consist of continuing to help wound centers that need an integrated solution for documentation, reporting, and reimbursement. It’s fully recognizing the truly “connected clinic.” TWC: What challenges are you seeing in wound care and how is your company approaching this challenge? PC: Too much paper! Integrating the manual and disparate documentation, reporting, and ordering wound care functions into a streamlined process for clinicians is extremely important, especially with the advent of electronic health record mandates. As part of our ongoing commitment to enhanced clinical solutions, we partner with wound care and technology industry leaders to provide new efficiencies within our software to improve ease of use. TWC: How can wound care clinicians get in touch with a representative to learn more about your company and products? PC: For more information about WoundExpert or to schedule a demonstration of our software, call 800-411-6281, option 2, or visit our website at www.woundexpert.com.
