My Scope of Practice: Welcome to OWM`s Editorial Board Members

With the growth of Ostomy Wound Management, the journal has added several new Editorial Board members in 2017. Their collective insight covers a breadth of wound care, adding experience and expertise to our peer-review panel. Some notable accolades among the group include bylines for numerous professional publications, providing regional and national presentations, memberships within various professional societies, and earning industry awards. Additionally, several new members serve on the board of directors of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) and will be presenting at the Symposium of the Advancement of Wound Care/Wound Healing Society meeting April 5-9, 2017, in San Diego, CA. The new board members are:

Karen Bauer, NP-C, CWS, CHRN, is from the University of Toledo (OH) Medical Center. Her expertise includes wound care (clinical and preclinical), clinical studies, long-term care, acute care, outpatient care, and nursing practice issues. Bauer currently serves as the consumer board member of the AAWC.

AAWC President Gregory Bohn, MD, FACS, ABPM/UHM, brings his knowledge on acute care to the OWM Editorial Board. He currently serves as medical director of the West Shore Medical Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine in Onekama, MI. Dr. Bohn will be speaking at SAWC Spring in sessions 1 and 13.

Kara S. Couch, MS, CRNP, CWS, of George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, will be speaking at SAWC Spring in sessions 32 and 37. Her background includes wound, acute, and outpatient care plus issues concerning reimbursement nursing practice, and medical practice.

Vickie R. Driver, DPM, MS, FACFAS, is the past president of the AAWC board of directors. A professor of orthopedic surgery at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, RI, Dr. Driver will be presenting at SAWC Spring (sessions 11, 32, 53). She adds expertise in clinical and preclinical wound care and studies.

Mary Haddow, RN, CWCN, comes from Community Care in Olney, Maryland. She currently serves as the member-at-large for the AAWC Board of Directors and as a column editor for the AAWC Newsletter. She is also a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society® (WOCN®).

Munier M. Nazzal, MD, FRCS (UK), FACS, RVT, RPVI, FACCWS, brings a perspective on vascular topics, clinical wound care, clinical studies, and outpatient care. He holds several titles at the University of Toledo Medical Center, including chief of the division of vascular and endovascular surgery, medical director of the noninvasive vascular laboratory, and residency program director and professor in the department of surgery.

Vashti Livingston, MS, CWOCN, is from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. Her expertise includes clinical wound care, ostomy care, incontinence care, skin care, reimbursement issues, outpatient care, and nursing practice issues. Livingston was awarded Northeast Region WOCN® Nurse of Distinction in 2016.

Evan Minior, MSN, FNP-BC, is from the Cleveland Clinic in OH. His knowledge spans a range of topics from wound care (clinical and preclinical), studies (clinical and preclinical), statistics, and reimbursement, nursing practice, and medical practice issues, to skin, home, long-term, acute, and outpatient care. Minior will speak at SAWC Spring (session 57) and present a poster.

Tim Paine, PT, adds experience in physical therapy, clinical wound care, and outpatient care to the OWM editorial board. A member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Paine also serves as the treasurer for the AAWC board of directors and is co-editor of the AAWC newsletter.

Armand Rondas, MSc, PhD, is affiliated with Kenniscentrum Wondbehandeling, De Zorggroep, in Venray, Netherlands. Dr. Rondas received his PhD from Maastricht University in 2016 and his background is in clinical and preclinical wound care. Dr. Rondas recently presented a poster at the World Union of Wound Healing Societies Conference 2016 in Florence, Italy.

Allison Chenel Trevellini, MSN, RN, CWOCN, comes from St Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY. She currently holds a position on the Board of Directors for Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board. Trevellini brings expertise in clinical wound care, ostomy care, incontinence care, skin care, acute care, and nursing practice issues.

Susan Dieter, MS, RN, CWS, is a pending member of the Editorial Board who is the past president of the American Board of Wound Management as well as a former secretary for the AAWC board of directors. Currently she is the regional director of Wellsense (Birmingham, MI).

The publishers, editors, and staff of OWM are excited to add these outstanding health care professionals to our Editorial Advisory Board. As always, our aim is to advance the science and art of skin, wound, ostomy, and incontinence care through informative, peer-reviewed publications. We are confident that these new members will uphold this ideal and improve the quality of our articles. We applaud the efforts of all our Editorial Board members and look forward to continuing to promote excellence in wound care education.
